Before the onset of the computer age, letters, newspapers, phones and telegrams were among the communications tools used most frequently. During the 60’s when Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., was spreading his message of non-violence, attracting like-minded sympathizers as well as strangers to the cause of civil rights, he used those traditional means to get in touch and stay in touch.
Today, we use social media to stay in touch with the people we know as well as to get in touch with people we don’t yet know, for various reasons, including persuasion to our causes. Maybe we have a concern, like human rights, organic farming, the environment or war, or modern slavery. If we want to maximize the number of people we might contact who share our concerns, we use social media to reach out to them. If we think back to the use of Twitter to unite and reinforce the Occupy Wall Street Movement, or the Egyptian citizenry who used social media to schedule and stage marches, we realize that social media that ultimately toppled both a political party’s chances of success in our country and an entire government in Egypt.
Martin Luther King, Jr., was a philosopher and civic leader whose ideas were expressed eloquently. His amazing vision could be shared with like minded individuals as well as to persuade virulent opponents and those who opposed his ideas and philosophy. The changes in our country today owe Dr. King a large debt. President Obama is proof of King’s message that through hard work, perseverance and the ultimate sacrifice injustice can be overcome and justice brought to fruition.
But what if King had had Twitter, Facebook, MySpace, etc., to get his message out during the 1960s? How would King have persuaded his audience using appeals to ETHOS? How would he have persuaded his audience using appeals to PATHOS? How would he have persuaded his audience using appeals to LOGOS? Choose one or more of these appeals and explain how Kind would have used social media to get his message across.
In honor of Dr. King, think about the kinds and ways he would he’d make use of social media today. Then, please share your ideas with the rest of of us.

i THINK THAT MARTIN LUTHER KING WOULD USE SOCIAL MEDIA LIKE FACEBOOK, BY TAKING PICTURES OF WHAT IS GOING ON WITH SLAVERY LIKE POLICE OFFICERS PURING WATER ON BLACK CITIZENS. i THINK HE WOULD ALSO ADD SOME PEOPLE THAT HE KNOWS THEN LOOK AT THERE FRIEND LIST AND SEE OTHER BLACK PEOPLE THEN SEND THEM A MESSAGE OF WHO HE IS AND WHAT HE IS TRYING TO PROVE

If Dr.MLK had all the electronics and social networks that we have now I think that he would have gotten more attention and everyone would of had freedom earlier. If he had a facebook and posted that he was in jail and posted what he wrote in that letter he would have been bailed of of jailn as soon as possible and everyone who was against freedom would have gotten beat up. All social networks would help him alot.

I think Martin Luther King can use Facebook, Twitter, MySpace to express his feelings to his people and all over the world about the letter from Birmingham and if he had Facebook he would also add as friends, the most important people in the world. If Malcolm X had Facebook, he will definetly add Martin Luther King as a friend.

Jan 31 . 13 social media Dr. King and social media in the 21st century
I think Dr. King would use social media like FaceBook, MySpace, Twitter etc., to persuade his audience by posting links to join a group to end racism. Or use FaceBook to creat a page so people can “like” it and keep track of it. Or probably Tumblr to make art about ending racism and so people can follow him.
He could use Ethos my posting in anger telling how he feels about all the violence were he is.
He could use pathos by posting how it feels to get beaten. Or to have food poured on them in sit-ins’.

I think if M.L.K was her to this day and he was using the tech that we use today he would use Facebook and twitter to inform people about the racism that is going on today and how to stop it.

If he had a facebook and posted that he was in jail and posted what he wrote in that letter he would have been bailed of of jailn as soon as possible and everyone who was against freedom would have gotten beat up, for example if he was not in jail and he posted ”meet me down the street we are going to march for freedom”. I think that many people would have been there but if the white people saw that post they would have been ready to fight them and do any thing else bad to hurt them that would have been the only disadvantage of having any kind of social network.

I think that if Martin Luther King was still alive to this day he would be using Facebook,Twitter,Instagram, and SnapChat. All of these websites are ways to interact with people. On Facebook he would be able to post statuses and make groups. On Twitter he will be able to tweet many diffrent things and have as many followers to keep up on his updates. Instagram is for pictures. He would be able to post alot of diffrent pictures to catch the people’s attention. SnapChat is a little simular but you can take instant pictures amd send them to your friends of family. These are all examples of things MLK could use

Dr King Social Media 21 Century
I think that is Martin Luther King Jr. was still alive he would most likely use Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram. I think that he would use these because its more easier. For example Facebook you can go on it and you can make many statuses. If there were all of this back in the day it would really be good to be used. All these websites are good but the main one that i would choose it Twitter. I would choose twitter because that is the main thing that everybody is on. Also you can make groups on this websites and anybody may join if you want to. I personally think that twitter is more organized then the other websites. Facebook also can do that but you have to do so many other things in order to do it and if you want to unblock the person ypu cant now.

If MLK was to have a Facebook, Twitter , Myspace
I Think if Martin Luther King Jr used theses sites he would be able to spread the word around the world and more people would proberly join there cause for freedom. And MLK would have a statement that can go global and proberly over 100 people can see what he’s talking about such as the rite’s that take place with the tear gas and attack dogs and maybe get surport from people from otheir nations facing the same cause as MLK.
I Think if Martin Luther King JR used these sites he would be able to spread the word around the world and more people would proberly join there cause for freedom
He could still write what he wants to right about and how he feels, but he could do it on facebook or myspace. I think if he was still living He should not use facebook myspace twitter ect. I wouldnt think it was that persuasive because it doesnt look like he his putting much effort into giving his opinion. If he did what he did back then now it would be very persuavive.

If Martin Luther King jr had facebook, Twitter, my space, etc. He would be able to get his message out. Twitter would be used to foolw people. Then give them a message about this non-violent movement. Facebook would probly be use to create a like page and the title would be something like this “Non-Vilence Movement”. People would click like this page if they agree. My Space could be used the same way. Also all the other social network would help out his movement.

If Dr.King was still alive today I think he would get his message out during the 1960s through social media like Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, etc. by using Youtube. Dr. King would have post inspirational videos like African-Americans who oppose of segregation and want Colored people and Whites to be equal. Dr. King would ask people to join in the cause and create video a with people are inspired by him and want to help, like people who joined the KONY 2012 cause. We should social media for good causes for people whom are in need of it and maybe the world wouldn’t be as bad as it is today.
If Martin had Twitter, Facebook, or Myspace to get his message out he would most likely had used Twitter to do so because more people are likely to see that opposed to Facebook or MySpace. So if Martin had aTwitter acount this is what he’d post. I wish we’d just learn to live together without having to be segrogated. This is an example of him persuading his audence useing pathos.
I think the way doctor king would use social media would be encourage kids and adults to fight against injustice everwere using facebook and twitter and make videos on youtube about it. Useing ethos he would show he is very populer then persuad pepole about how bad slavery was then the would help by telling more and more then it would spred like wildfire then everone would now how bad slavery is.
I think that if martin luther king would have the chance to use facebook, twitter, myspace. He would have use it for good purposes.Like to warn some that his in jail perhaps. Also he could have to use to cant other people that are far away and he cant see them. But if its not inpotant maybe he would have use it just to contac his family from onther state maybe.
I think that he had facebook, twitter or myspace and wanted to tell everyone that they were going to march for freedom,he could tell all his friends that they were going to march. He could tell other people about it too. This is example of pethos because they are going to march for freedom so this is how its is emotion and that how Martin Luther King is going to speard to everyone to march.

If martin luther king jr. had a facebook, twitter, myspace, and ect.it would have been so much easier for him to get the message out for the blacks.but there is some disavantges to because the whites would also have facebook and they would start a bigger war and disagreements in the world so there are so many things that could have happened to the blacks and the whites. martin luther king jr. wouldent have a facebook any way cause he is a religious.cause his dad might not approve of him having a facebook.the is why martin luther king might not have a facebook.
Dr. king would use facebook and he would write about what he did like the march and made a speech. Dr. King had begin in jail and he wrote a letter and he wanted to put a stop to the roceom. He would use a fanpage in facebook.
I don’t have any facebook, etc.

If Dr. Luther King had a facebook, twitter, myspace, etc.,that would be easier for him to let all the blacks know what is going on but also he probably cant because some of the blacks probably dont have the right to go online. the slave master would have one known about the plans they are.

1/31/13 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Question
If Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. had a Facebook,Twitter or Myspace he would be able to express his feelings by writing it on a status and using pathos to express his feelings and other peoples to. He could use a diffrent name like Bob Notebook or Do Pencil. He could also give a lot of fake stuff so he wouldn’t get arrested and go to jai; and be killed for the stuff he wrote.
josmar amaro 1/31/13 English 7;7 If Dr.King had a facebook, titter or a my space he would use it to persade his followers to make the rights fair. He would use the web page to tell the people help him fight the unequal rights.he would use the art of persuation MLK would use pathos wich means emothion. He Would put alot of feeling into his speeches and together with his followers they would march, speek and fight for equal rights. he would right a poem like this roses are red violents are blue slaveary is bad and so are you.
