In Roman mythology, the father of the Gods devours his children to ensure none becomes greater than him. Goya, a Spanish artist, painted this child murder on the wall of his house along with other gruesome paintings known collectively as “The Black Paintings.” Of the Black Paintings which Goya completed the other most famous work is probably his “Witches’ Sabbath.”

Should the Poughkeepsie High School football team forfeit its Friday game because of unsportsmanlike behavior following last Friday night’s game?

The superintendent announced the following:  “We deeply apologize to our parents, students, and our Poughkeepsie City School District community for the cancellation of the varsity football game scheduled for Friday, September 18, 2015. At this time, the varsity football team will forfeit the game due to concerns raised about “unsportsmanlike” behavior this past Friday, September 11, 2015 as the team was returning from an away game.”

Creating a writing community

A community works best if all members agree on the rules, regulations and policies that will govern the proceedings in which all participate.  To this end, you were asked to think critically about the most equitable practices to introduce into our class to ensure that things run in an orderly yet engaging manner.

English is my Thinglish ::

Leaders make the horses drink. I only lead them to water that I am after to soothe my own thirst.

I believe that I lead by following. Especially in the classroom, when teaching others, or even while training my dog. My grandmother calls that lazy. I call that not leading at all, perhaps because I really am not a fan of leaders, and do not want to lead anyone. I can hardly lead my self.

This becomes a difficult proposition when my son is born. No spanking, no circumcision, no gender stereotypes, I preach to my husband.

In a classroom, it looks really lazy, like my grandmother said.
